The Odd Case of Finley Jayne (Steampunk Chronicles prequel)
Author: Kady Cross
Format: Ebook (It’s free also I believe)
Finley Jayne knows she’s not ‘normal’. Normal girls don’t lose time, or have something inside them that makes them capable of remarkably violent things. Her behavior has already cost her one job, so when she’s offered the lofty position of companion to Phoebe, a debutante recently engaged to Lord Vincent, she accepts, despite having no experience. Lord Vincent is a man of science with his automatons and inventions, but Finley is suspicious of his motives where Phoebe is concerned. She will do anything to protect her new friend, but what she discovers is even more monstrous than anything she could have imagined…
I am super duper excited that the copy of “The girl in the Steel Corset” I am reading had this lovely little novella prequel in the beginning. It was about 98 pages of fantastic goodness. I am fairly certain besides appearing in my version of “The Girl in the Steel Corset” that it’s only available as an Ebook and I am also fairly certain it’s a free one at that? Don’t quote me on that but that’s what I have been lead to believe. Anyway… It’s super fun and enjoyable. I am really excited about getting really involved with “The Steampunk Chronicles” I am thinking that this is going to be a very exciting, action packed adventure that I am going to want to sink my teeth into, say goodnight to the world and just obsessively read them until I am done (Which is what I am probably going to do because I am awesome like that).
I love Finley, I think she’s a fantastic Character that despite not really getting any back story or getting to know her too much in this prequel (it is only 98 pages peeps) I know that I’m going to enjoy her and love seeing her story unfold. She is fiercely loyal, charismatic, compassionate and caring. She doesn’t pretend to be something she’s not and she’s not your typical damsel in distress or super badass female character which I am super stoked/excited over.
This is a short and sweet review, but I enjoyed the novella thought it was a great introduction and it really, really peeked my interest into reading the series which I am about to go do after I finish writing this!
5/5 for me! : )
